The subtlety of memory and grief is studied in this heartfelt exploration of a bereaved older woman. Grace (Lindsay Duncan), returns home from the funeral of her husband, George (Jim Broadbent), accompanied by her daughter, Lucy (Sophia Myles). Mother and daughter clash, leading Grace to attempt to mourn in isolation.
Confronted by memories of happier times, she begins the process of cleansing the house - and herself - of the medical paraphernalia of the sick man she nursed.
Ignoring phone calls from her daughter, she chaotically extends the purge of George’s earthly manifestations beyond what she can bear.
Faced with her error, she has a choice to make – to either continue on her destructive path, or reach out to her daughter for help.SYNOPSIS

Grace - Lindsay Duncan
Lindsay Duncan CBE is a world-renowned stage and screen actress. She has two Olivier Awards and a Tony award for her stage performances (‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’ and ‘Private Lives’), and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in the Oscar-winning ‘Birdman'.Her film career includes playing Alice’s mother in both Tim Burton ‘Alice in Wonderland’ movies, and starring in Roger Michell’s Kate Winslet-helmed penultimate film ‘Blackbird’. She has appeared in various Stephen Poliakoff TV dramas, receiving multiple Bafta nominations for her performances, and has recently starred in the TV adaptation of the multi-award winning series of novels ‘A Discovery of Witches’.LUCY - SOPHIA MYLES
We meet Lucy right at the start of the film. Lucy is our unintended antagonist - saying and doing the wrong thing as she and her mother return from the funeral, which causes Grace to pull away and ask for some space. We feel an obvious history and connection between Grace and Lucy, a mother daughter relationship that has no doubt been tested through the undulations of childhood, adolescence, and a graduation into adulthood.GEORGE - JIM BROADBENT (voice)
